Teammate rips Brett Favre: Favre should have been benched, Jets RB Jones Says. News from NEW YORK (TICKER) — New York Jets running back Thomas Jones earlier this week told a local radio station that future Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre should have been benched at some point during the season.
Jones told Hot 97 FM on Tuesday that Favre’s mistakes hurt the Jets down the stretch.
New York lost four if its last five games, and the 39-year-old Favre tossed nine interceptions with just two touchdowns in that span. Favre finished with 22 touchdowns and a league-worst 22 interceptions, but still somehow made the Pro Bowl.
“We’re a team and we win together. … But at the same time, you can’t turn the ball over and expect to win,” Jones told the radio station two days after Favre tossed three interceptions in the season-ending loss to Miami.
The loss was even more painful because former Jet Chad Pennington outplayed Favre and helped the Dolphins clinched the AFC East. Jones, who led the AFC with 1,312 yards, said the turnovers were the difference in the 24-17 loss.
“The other day, the three interceptions really hurt us. I mean, that’s just reality,” Jones told the radio station. “If I were to sit here and say, ‘Oh, man, it’s OK,’ that’s not reality. … I don’t like it, I know everybody else on the team doesn’t like it.
“If somebody is not playing well, they need to come out of the game,” Jones told Hot 97 FM. “You’re jeopardizing the whole team because you’re having a bad day. To me, that’s not fair to everybody else. You’re not the only one on the team. So when you get to the wire and somebody is just giving the game up, I mean, it’s just not (fair).”
Nice of him to throw a teamate under the bus.

I think Thomas Jones needs to long in the mirror at himself for a long time. Let us remember the troubles he has in Chicago. Also lets compare his stats to Brett Favre and I think Brett wins hands down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lets also compare Brett Favre 2 Super Bowl Rings Thomas Jones 0.

Its funny a guy who should be thanking the man hes ripping for his 1000yrd season is complaining. Its not fair. Lets talk about Jones last 4 games. Since Dec 4th the man never broke 100yrds in a game. The Jets ran a ton. A lot on 2nd 3rd and 4th downs. Sometimes all in a row. Jones failed on more than 50% of those conversions. Stats don’t lie. Jones just bit the hand that feeds him……..the ball. Jones should be so lucky to be even mentioned as a teammate of Brett. Before any of these players stat crap about other players they should look at their own game first. That goes or all, not just Jones.
Jones is right of course. Boy Mangini was afraid (or maybe too dumb?) to do the right , and now HE got canned. Pennington’s ‘Punk’ of the Jets was absolutely DELIGHTFUL!
I respect no man who airs out that laundry over the airways. He may have a legitimate criticism, but that is something you keep between teammates and coaches. Jones is ignorant, and needs to grow up!!
Brett cost the Jets heavily. for one they lost a good solid QB who could have easly been the franchise player of the team, then he cost the team a playoff spot by throwing interceptions as if they were just part of the plays and finally he cost Mangini is job. Coach had nothing to do with the bad results it was all on Brett’s shoulders the day they made the decision to acquire him. Not only that but now Brett is back into his old retirement plan? give me a break Brett, you lost all credibility to my eyes. You are nothing but a prima donna and you proved it. Here … respect is lost. Good ridance.
Well, I’ve been a Favre fan for most of Brett’s career. What I have seen is a lot of complaining and not a lot of team work, ever since the trade not all of the team was on board with it. From my view, the team almost made the playoffs, but if TEAM WORK is first and foremost with all the team, and Brett remains, the Jets should be in the playoffs hands down. True Brett threw alot of interceptions, but also True is the Offensive Line hasn’t been able to keep the Defense from getting to Brett. Most every time he threw the ball, 70% or so he was hit.
Quit crying Jones and others, Brett just loves the game and wants to win, not self glory but he loves Team Work.

Thomas Jones IS A CRY BABY!!! Face it, the reailty is that you don’t deserve to be mocking your Quarterback…get a Super Bowl Ring first before you start mocking some one!!!!
I also don’t understand why people in WI are happy Brett is gone. Out of the 22 starting positions. Only one of those changed… the starting QB. Yes Rogers had a good season… whoa whoo. It does not erase the fact that they missed the playoffs and the Vikings took the NFC North! Factor in that I’m sure some players didn’t want Brett gone. That one change, effected the entire team. GB had no major injuries either. They are in the worse Conference. The good ole Lions can be thanked for that. Yet GB fans are happy! Those who are happy Brett is gone should be on their knees begging his return, and thanking those fans who said Ted your and idiot!!!
I think that if that is the way that he really feels about Brett’s performance, then he ought to take a dose of his own medicine. He should of have been benched, by his own evaluation, only put into the game when L. Washington need a brake. Or maybe he should just go back to Chicago. Hey Mr. Jones…quit your crying. You left Chicago as a traitor. You had a great season then booked east. Deal with it!
I am a die hard J-E-T-S, JETS, JETS, JETS fan. I was arguably the happiest person on earth when I found out Bret was coming to NY. After the big win in TN. I was on my high horse. I had dreams of an all NY Superbowl. Reality struck and it was ugly. I absolutely agree with T. Jones. Bret will be in the Hall of Fame, but not for what he did this season. I wanted him benched as well. What other QB can throw 22 INT and still start. The NFL is not about what you have done, but what have you done lately. So you can on and on about T. Jones, but the truth is the truth.
It’s nothing but perconsal ego and conceitful pride that Favre didn’t remain retired after leaving Green Bay. There comes a time in pro-sports just as in a regular “day job” that one must retire and then kick back and take it easy. Obviously it’s about pride because Favre should have a ton of money for retirement.
Farve is an amazing quarterback and I can’t wait to see his name in the Hall Of Fame but Jones is right…Farve was a big part of the reason the Jets lost that game. Between the way he was playing (obviously in pain) and the playoffs on the line, he should have been pulled sometime early in the 3rd to give Clemens a chance to prove himself. As much as I hate to see players hate on each other in the media, I have to agree with Jones here. Maybe now Farve will stick to Wrangler jeans commercials and riding quads around his ranch.
Come on people its the G.D. JETS!!!! They suck have sucked and will suck for 10 more years… Nobody cares about the Jets unless you are from New York and they dont even like them… No Farve this year and the Jets would’ve won 6 games maybe… This was a Dream year for the Jets and a Farce for Farve. Farve did the Jets a favor… BELIVE IT!!!!!
Its good that Jones says whats on his mind. Its the truth. I like Farve but if you do that poorly then you have to get out. I wouldnt want a player like that on my team. What else im glad about is that Jones is saying it like it is. Im tired of people not saying what they really want to say cuz its not right. Screw that..!!! Say what you have to say..!!!
If thats the way he feels then, jones should have been benched in the last couple games also. In the game against miami 10 attempts, 22 yards total, and 0 touchdowns. Not very good. Shut up and sit down.
I respect Farve for his accomplishments but he also has to realize that there is a time to gracefully bow out. I don’t like teamates taking public shots but I also think Farve acted poorly as he parted way with GB. Before he damages the great career he has had any further, he should retire and stick to playing touch football in Jeans commercial.

I really hate it when teammates do this stuff. Jones your a wuss. and I hope you read this. I would love the opportunity to tell you to your face. Punk ! here is my address I wont hide behind a keyboard thats something youd do . Tell Brett what your beef is not a reporter . If anybody knows this Jones dude tell him to get at me. I got a manhood lesson for him.
I know from past experience that Favre down the stretch throws alot of INT’s but some of those INT’s are the result of tip balls, wrong routes, poorly run routes. QB make mistakes because the Defense typically forces them to throw the ball prior to what they want to…Was this the case or just poor choices? Thomas Jones needs to have discussed this in the locker room even if he was correct. Brett Favre gave them the best option to win because of his experience. Everyone on the team should evalute their performance……..including JonesThomas Jones is TERRIBLE PERSON/PLAYER. Favre is your teammate so if you had a problem with him, you have should talked to him/your coach about that. How about you, Jones???? What did you do last 4 games???? You were TERRIBLE????
Pay me $14million, I can throw 22 interceptions too. Favre should be thrown under the bus, he should never have been signed! He is selfish, selfish, selfish! How can you wait until after the draft to let your team know your future intentions!! He never impressed me, go home and stay home!!
